Police CarDetectives investigating a robbery at a golf club are appealing for public help to trace those responsible.

The incident happened at around 11.30pm on Tuesday 12 May at the Whetstone Golf Club on Cambridge Road.

A member of staff was clearing up when he was approached by a man inside the premises who assaulted him and demanded money. The man tied up the staff member and made off with a quantity of cash from a till.

The staff member, who was discovered the next morning, sustained cuts and bruises and was treated at hospital.

The suspect is described as white, around 6ft tall and of medium build.

He was wearing a black top, camouflage trousers, brown boots, black peaked cap and a scarf covering his face. He spoke with a local accent.

Detective Constable 0514 Chris Coates is the investigating officer and is appealing for anyone who may have information about the robbery to please get in touch. He said:

“We are in the initial stages of the investigation and in the process of carrying out enquiries locally.

“We would urge anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area around 11.30pm on Tuesday night or the days prior to the incident to contact us. I suspect that there is someone who may well know who is responsible or perhaps heard a rumour to which could be linked to this incident.

“I would urge you to please get in touch if you have any information which can help our investigation.”
