Who is your local sporting superstar?

sporting heroResidents in Enderby and elsewhere in Blaby District are being urged to nominate key players for the fifth Blaby Local Sports Alliance Awards.

The awards, which take place on Wednesday November 26 at Countesthorpe Community College, celebrate the sporting success of individuals and teams throughout the district.

Nominations are now being accepted in the following categories:
• Volunteer/Official/Coach of the Year
• Team of the Year
• Sports Person of the Year
• Young Team of the Year
• Young Sports Person of the Year
• Active 4 Life – Health & Wellbeing Award
• Junior Active 4 Life – Health & Wellbeing Award
• Blaby LSA Special Recognition Award
• School Games Recognition Award

Councillor Sheila Scott, portfolio holder for Health Improvement and Leisure Services at Blaby District Council, said:

“The awards recognise individuals and sport clubs that make an outstanding contribution to sport or health related activities in the district.

“It is not just about those who compete, the awards also celebrate the volunteers who give up their spare time to coach or those that often go unnoticed, but work tirelessly behind the scenes to help a club run smoothly.”

This year Glebe Garden Centre in Countesthorpe has joined as the award’s new main sponsor.

Nominations close on Sunday October 26, and the ceremony will take place on Wednesday November 26 at Countesthorpe Community College.
