Abba Reunion Charity Concert

Saturday 7th August 2010

ABBA Reunion Mallory event poster

Following the amazing success of last years event, and following countless enquiries, organiser Rob Bryant has decided to organise another summer charity concert at Mallory Park.

As a result of last years show an astounding £15,000 was donated to Spinal Research, helping them to pursue their clinical trials & research.

The weather gave a fantastic summers evening and over 2500 people turned out to support the charity event, enjoying a brilliant show from Queen tribute band 'The Bohemians'.

Rob says he'd like to reaffirm his sincere thanks to John Ward and all the staff at Mallory Park, the generous event sponsors and anyone involved in any way with last year's event.

The very notable donation will enable Spinal Research to carry on it's ground-breaking research into finding a cure for spinal cord injury, and give hope to the many thousands of people throughout the UK that are affected in some way.

Reunite with ABBA...

This year Rob is organising an 'ABBA Reunion Charity Concert', planned for Saturday 7th August and with the support of a 70's disco he's sure it will prove at least as popular as last year.

'ABBA Reunion' is the creation of the director, producer and choreographer of the award winning 'ABBA Mania' musical, and stars the original 'Frida' from the West End cast.

The live 7 piece band gives ABBA fans the opportunity to once again re-live the addictive ABBA phenomena that swept the airwaves and discos during the 70's and 80's.

Following a highly successful run in London's West End together with a phenomenal 4 year European tour, this critically acclaimed ABBA tribute act are now coming to Mallory Park!

The format for this years show will not be too dissimilar to last years and will include:

With large high profile companies like NEXT Plc & Walkers Crisps among the main sponsors of the event, as well as this years concert being held in association with Leicester Sound 105.4FM (who will be promoting the show 'on-air' throughout the summer), Rob is certain the concert will prove a massive success.!

Manga Cafe

Illustration from the Manga Cafe (Leics.CC website)

Manga and Animé group meeting monthly at Enderby Library.

We meet on Saturday afternoons from 1pm - 2pm every 4 weeks.

This is an informal group, drop in - there's no need to book.

All ages welcome - Meet other fans - Borrow new titles
Discuss what you're reading/watching - Write reviews

If you want, you can bring snacks to share while we talk.

At each group we will decide what to do in future sessions. For example, last year we decided to put together a newsletter/magazine for Christmas with reviews and pictures, and to try to learn some Japanese together. So come and join us if this sounds like something in which you'd be interested.

Further details may be obtained from Ali at Enderby Library,
or by telephone on 0116 2862091.

Saturday afternoons approximately every 4 weeks at 1:00-2:00.

Future Meetings...

Saturday 7th August 2010, 1-2pm
Saturday 11th September 2010, 1-2pm (not the first Saturday this month)
Saturday 2nd October 2010, 1-2pm

Borders group:

Borders used to run a Manga Group on a Thursday evening, with more of a focus on drawing than in the Enderby group. Since Borders closed, many have been missing the group. One of the regulars has relaunched it at Enderby Library on a Wednesday evening, hopefully it can become a monthly fix, the last Wednesday of each month, 6-7pm.
