The Station car park and Weavers Court in Narborough are two of four car parks across Blaby district which have retained a national award recognising  their high standards and safety.

Inspectors from the British Parking Association and the Police assessed that the car parks across the district of Blaby met the requirements of the Park Mark Awards – part of the nationwide Safer Parking Scheme.

The awards recognise management and maintenance of the car park, checking that there are appropriate levels of surveillance, lighting, signage and cleanliness. There are currently nearly 5000 car parks with the Park Mark® Award throughout the UK

All these are known to reduce the opportunity for crime, creating a safer environment for the motorist and their vehicle.

The other successful car parks in the district of Blaby are Enderby Road and Johns Court.

Michael Gardner, Park Mark® Scheme Area Manager, said:

“We recently conducted the annual assessments of Blaby’s four previously Awarded car parks which deservedly achieved the Park Mark Award for a further 12 months.

It was great to see that the standards had been maintained and the improvements that had been completed since the last visit were the benefit of their many customers.

This was testament to the hard work and investment that had taken place to achieve the Award, and should be congratulated”.

“The scheme celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2014. Reaching this landmark birthday is due to organisations being committed to achieving high standards and it shows they care about their customers’ experiences.”

Councillor Guy Jackson, portfolio holder for Neighbourhood and Environmental Services at Blaby District Council, said;

“It’s important people can feel safe parking up and leaving their vehicle when they visit our district. The standard for these awards is very high and it is very pleasing to see these car parks have achieved that standard.”
