The A.G.M. of the Enderby Twinning Association took place in September and Barbara Spence remains chairperson.
Jon Winterton returns to the treasurer post, Sandra Whittington continues as vice-chairperson and Christine Hurst took over as secretary.
Peter Hurst proposed a vote of thanks to Barbara for her successful leadership in a very difficult year; the vote was unanimous.
Following on from the A.G.M. came the general meeting. French conversation lessons have been organised for the Autumn and there was a lot of interest from members. Social events arranged include a skittles evening at the New Inn, a wine tasting social and another trip to Le Bistrot Pierre. A sub-committee has been formed to organise the programme for the next French visit which will take place over the late May Bank Holiday.
Anyone interested in taking part in the exchange visit and can offer to accommodate one or more French visitors can contact the Association on telephone: 0116 2848514 or 01455 209021. Alternatively, email email@example.com for a leaflet and further details or to arrange to meet the members.
All are welcome to attend a meeting or social event to see if the Association is for them. There is a visit to France every two years and then receiving the French into member’s homes and arranging an interesting programme of events for them in the other year.
You can meet the Association at Danemill Schools Christmas Fayre (Dec 8th, 12 noon to 3pm). At this event you can grab yourself a seasonal drink and hog roast cob, listen to Danemill children singing Christmas Carols and lots, lots more as well as helping to raise money for a good cause.
The Twinning Association meets in the Civic Centre at 8pm on the first Tuesday of alternate months. The next meeting is on the 6th November 2012.
