One of the most popular sections of Blaby District Council’s renowned website has been streamlined for residents.
To ensure an easy online experience, the Planning section has undergone a makeover to make it easier for users to make an application, search for an application and find out if you need to submit an application.
With around 1500 applications and requests made every year, Planning is one of the Council’s most popular services.
In 2015 Planning generated over 146,000 page views, accounting for almost 10% of all visits to the website.
A section has also been produced for major applications including Lubbesthorpe, for both residents and research students.
The extensive development with over 4,000 homes has a dedicated area with information on the history of the planning process and latest updates.

Blaby District Council have announced they will shortly be launching a new resident account feature on their website, designed to offer easier access to Council services ….and more.
The new feature builds on the reputation gained in 2014 when Blaby District Council’s website was named as one of the top 20 best websites in the country and awarded ‘four stars’ by SOCITM (Society of Information Technology Management) which promotes the effective and efficient use of Information Technology in Local Government and the Public Sector.
Star ranking is given to each site based on a structured survey of 259 questions which includes navigation, use of search, A-Z list, accessibility, etc.
Shortly, residents in Enderby and elsewhere in the Blaby district will be able to register for an account on the Council’s website to receive the benefits outlined below:
- Access services through a single online account
- View their Council Tax account
- View their Benefits account
- Book sports and leisure activities at the Huncote Pavilion
- Register for email alerts to keep up to date
- Track progress and keep a history of their requests
- Save time as forms will be ‘pre-populated’ (resdy filled-in) with their contact details when logged in
- Subscribe to receive email alerts
- Subscribe to the Council’s email alerts service to find out when new online services and information become available.
Blaby District Council has revamped its website and launched two new exciting services; My Blaby and Find My Nearest.
My Blaby has been designed to help residents find essential information about services in the district.
By typing in their postcode and selecting their address, users will find information that is specific to their area including refuse and recycling collections, council tax costs, schools in their catchment area and district and county councillors.
Find My Nearest helps residents to locate key services within the district such as doctors’ surgeries, schools and colleges, and post offices.
It also enables residents to see what planning applications are in their local area, with the option to find out more information and submit comments.

“The new website has been designed with our residents in mind. Accessibility has improved and the introduction of My Blaby and Find My Nearest means information on key services is much easier to find.”
