After 25 years as Secretary of Enderby Village Institute, Brian Gillespie retired at the Institute’s Annual General Meeting on the 10th September.
EYE Contributor Brian Screaton tells us that Brian has been associated with the building for over forty years.
In grateful recognition of Brian’s years of dedicated service he was presented with a commemorative silver plate by Chairman Dave Stanley.
When not taking the minutes of Institute meetings or looking after the building, Brian has also been a volunteer at the Abbey Pumping Station in Leicester for forty years, and is currently membership secretary and vice-chairman.
Families can get free advice on health, education, money matters and lots more at a Well Family Clinic being held on Friday January 20 at the Enderby Village Institute.
The event is open from 3pm – 8pm and will allow people to address a range of health and wellbeing needs under one roof.
Councillor David Jennings, portfolio holder for health and community services at Blaby District Council said:
“We want to help people who are ready to improve their lifestyle by giving them access to a range of services in one place.
“People will have new year’s resolutions fresh in their minds and if they need that extra bit of support to really make a positive change for their family or themselves then I would urge them to visit this clinic”.
Services available include body MOTs, information on adult education, NHS stop smoking advice, a physical activity clinic and resident support.
Staff from a range of agencies will also be on hand to give advice on housing, council tax, benefits, drug and alcohol misuse, debt and community safety.
