Blaby District Council is giving residents the chance to win a fantastic Christmas hamper for their pooch this festive season!
Between now and Thursday 15 December, anyone living in Blaby District or using a park within the area can take a picture of their illuminated dog out and about on their daily walk.
There are two easy ways to enter:
- Post the photo on the “Blaby District” Facebook page
- Tweet @BlabyDC with the photo or use the hashtag #DogsOfBlaby
The competition is part of an initiative to promote visible pets during the winter, including the prevention of dogs fouling out of sight of their owners and reduce the number of incidents of dogs with vehicles or other residents.
The hamper, worth £50, was donated by the local Pets at Home store on Grove Farm Triangle and includes dog toys, treats and a comfy wicker basket.
The lucky dog and winning owner will be drawn at random.
Michelle Ikin, Senior Animal Services Officer for Blaby District Council, said:
“There is a noticeable increase in dog fouling on our streets and parks during the winter.
This can be because owners can’t see their dog when it’s dark. But we also want to make sure our residents’ dogs are as safe as possible during the winter season.
“It’s important to remember that ‘if your dog stops prowling, it might be fouling!’”
Light-up collars are available online from as little as £2.
