Breakfast Event to share ideas and boost local economy in Blaby District

business breakfastBusinesses in Blaby District are being invited to a free breakfast meeting next month to share ideas for boosting our local economy.

The ‘Blaby District Means Business’ event will be held on Thursday 9th July in the Council Chamber, Blaby District Council, Desford Road, LE19 2EP.

It is the seventh in a series of networking events Blaby District Council is running to benefit local firms in the area.

The meeting starts at 7:30am with breakfast available on arrival, followed by a brief speaker programme with topics including an update on Broadband from Superfast Leicestershire and the work of Leicestershire Cares.

There will also be support for local businesses available and the local business spotlight.

Councillor Tony Greenwood, portfolio holder for Planning, Economic Development and Housing Strategy at Blaby District Council, said:

“These events have been a great success in showcasing the support that is out there locally for businesses within the district.

“We encourage small and medium sized enterprises to attend and find out about funding, skills and support programmes they can benefit from.”

council-officesLocal businesses are invited to attend a free breakfast meeting in September to share ideas for boosting the local economy, and hear about the latest funding opportunities and business news from Blaby District Council and partner organisations.

Blaby District Council is hosting the “Blaby District Means Business” event on Tuesday 30 September at its main offices on Desford Road in Narborough.

The meeting starts at 7.30am with the promise of a free tasty breakfast on arrival followed by a brief speaker programme with topics on funding for local small to medium sized firms, free social media programme from PERA Training to help grow your business plus an update on local support from the Federation of Small Business.

Councillor Tony Greenwood, portfolio holder for Planning, Economic Development and Housing Strategy at Blaby District Council, said:

“The Council is running these events for the benefit of local businesses. A range of government grants are available to help create jobs and generate growth. The timeframe for applying is running out and we want Blaby businesses to benefit before the window closes in March 2015.

“Small to medium sized enterprises are encouraged to attend to hear how to access these grants as well as discover the wider range of support which is available.”

The programme includes speakers from PERA Training and the Federation of Small Business, plus the chance to network with local business people.

Business boost event success

Marriott Hotel, Enderby, LeicesterOver 50 businesses and partner organisations working in Blaby District attended an event to share ideas for boosting the local economy, funding opportunities and apprenticeship incentives.

Blaby District Council hosted their second “Blaby District Means Business” event for local companies at the Marriott Hotel, Leicester and has plans to develop and run further business networking and information sharing events.

The next event is planned to be held in May.

The meeting included a brief speaker programme with topics on growth, priorities for economic development, funding and skills-training programmes, incentives on offer to help employers to recruit an apprentice, and the chance to network.

Cllr Tony Greenwood, portfolio holder for Planning, Economic Development and Housing Strategy at Blaby District Council, said:

“The Council recognises that local businesses can benefit from the support from ourselves and our partner agencies, and they may not know what help is out there for them.

“By holding these events we are hoping that every business who attends leaves knowing that the opportunities are out there to help them achieve growth. We would encourage small to medium sized enterprises to get in touch with us to hear news of funding and support programmes that may benefit them.”

Enderby & District Social Club to hold Bank Holiday Charity Event

social club 2Among its forthcoming events, Enderby and District Social Club will be holding a Bank Holiday charity event.

May 25th, 26th and 27th will see a number of activities with the weekend’s proceeds going to help two charities – the’Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance’ and ‘Help for Heroes’.

Activities include the return of the football tournament, a tug of war, pram race, bouncy castle, BBQ, outside bar, sporting events and stalls.

Competitors ready?
The club is looking for entrants for the pram race, sporting events and the tug of war. Anyone interested should ring 0777 273 7368 for details or turn up on the day. Also if anyone would like a stall free of charge just ask!

Keith Glover Memorial Darts

The club is hosting a memorial tournament on Sunday May 26th, registration at 3.30pm (4pm start).

£50 prize fund. £3 entry. All entry fees will be donmated to charity as chosen by Keith’s family.
