Leicestershire County Council Highways has agreed to the emergency closure of Equity Road in Enderby.
The closure is required between the junctions of Federation Street and Holyoake Street.
The road will be closed from the 6th October 2015 for up to 2 days.
This will safely allow Severn Trent Water make repairs to a burst water main.
During the closure the alternative route will be :- Federation Street, Short Ridge Lane, Holyoake Street and vice versa.
A Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) is to be made for Beggars Lane, Lubbesthorpe.
The purpose of the TTRO, due to commence in November 2015, is to facilitate ‘Section 278‘ works for a new development.
A Section 278 Agreement (Highways Act 1980) allows developers to enter into a legal agreement with the County Council to make alterations or improvements to the public highway.
Examples of work covered by this type of agreement include new access into a development site i.e. a roundabout, signalised junction, right turn lane or a simple priority junction.
A Section 278 Agreement may also be required for works such as a new signalised pedestrian crossing or improvements to existing junctions close to the development site.
The proposed TTRO for Beggars Lane will incorporate a temporary road closure.
Whilst the TTRO is physically in place the diversion route will be via the Hinckley Road and Desford Road (see below)
The duration of the TTRO is for a period not exceeding 18 months commencing on the 9th November 2015.
The main works will take approximately 7 weeks, but there may be further closures during the progress of the development.
A Press Release will be issued to confirm these details approximately 2 weeks prior to the works commencing.
Diversion via Hinckley Road and Desford Road
LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games) has chosen Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to stage a dress rehearsal of the Olympic Torch Relay on Friday 20th April.
Rolling road closures will be used to manage the event which means that a number of roads in Leicester (including Abbey Lane and Red Hill Circle) will be closed from approximately 7.30am to 8.15am.
During this time, the Park & Ride Service 203 (Birstall – Leicester city centre – Enderby) will operate a diversion which means that stops on Belgrave Gate at Leicester College will not be served in either direction while the roads are closed and the traffic clears (between approximately 7am and 8am).
Passengers are advised to allow plenty of time for their journeys and be aware that there may be delays.
This will affect passengers travelling to and from both Birstall and Enderby.
Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Service 103 from Meynell’s Gorse to Leicester city centre will run its normal route.
