Spectacular Charity QUEEN Concert a success…

The ‘Spectacular Charity QUEEN Concert With Gospel Choir’ in association with Oak FM 107 and 107.9 at Mallory Park on Sat 6 August was another massive success!

Organiser Rob Bryant describes the event for the EYE…

Despite one or two showers beforehand, the sun shone yet again to give the record breaking audience of just under 3000 people a fine, dry summers evening to enjoy the show.

Hundreds of concert goers entered into the spirit of the event by dancing along as pupils from the ‘JAM Rock Music School’ performed a 1 hour set of classic hits from the 70’s, before the main act took to the stage.

The real stars of the show were ‘The Bohemians’ together with the ‘ACM Gospel Choir’, the critically acclaimed Queen tribute band supported by the finalists from the BBC’s ‘Last Choir Standing’, performed two live 1 hour sets to the baying crowd.

Supported by professional DJ ‘Simon Carnall’, who kept the fans entertained with his unique talent, they had the whole audience dancing and singing along to all the massively popular Queen hits.

It was a night the whole family could enjoy, with fairground rides for the children (who were admitted free of charge) and mums and dads could enjoy a fantastic 5 hours of live entertainment without spending the earth.

As a result of it’s massive popularity, a mind boggling £22,000 (yes £22,000) was raised for the ‘Spinal Research’ charity www.spinal-research.org, who are the UK’s leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop reliable treatments for paralysis caused by a broken back or neck.

Every year more than 800 people in the UK are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord, Spinal Research raises money to fund research into clinical treatments as well as vital basic science research.

With the two previous shows being equally as popular, it now seems an annual charity concert is sure to be included in the calendar of events hosted each year by the ‘friendly circuit’ – Mallory Park..

The three highly successful concerts that have now been held at Mallory Park have raised in excess of £45,000 which given the current economic climate is fantastic and a massive tribute to all involved in anyway with the shows.

It takes an awful lot of hard work to organise, however with so many people having such a brilliant night and the charity benefitting to such an extent, it makes it all worthwhile.

Rob would like to express his sincere thanks to anyone involved in anyway with the organising, promoting, hosting etc of the concert, without whom he says he would find it impossible to get the whole event off the ground in the first place.

Also the crowd of nearly 3000 people who came along, please be assured that only the charity benefits from this event, as all involved very kindly give their time or services either free of charge or at heavily discounted rates.
