Armed officers arrest man in Enderby

POLICE reflective vestArmed police and officers with dogs helped arrest a man in Old Church Road, Enderby in the early hours of Saturday 16th December.

Local media reported a resident of the road as saying they were woken up just before 6am to witness armed police and dog handlers arresting a man.

The resident said they heard dogs barking and on looking out of the window they could see unmarked police cars and at least three officers armed with weapons.

The officers appeared to be shouting something towards a house close by, eventually bringing out a male and placing him in one of the police cars.

Police also brought out a woman though the eyewitness stated it “…didn’t seem as though she was arrested”.

The police are said to have been at the scene for around an hour, during which time they appeared to make a search of the rear of the property using flashlights.

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman told the Leicester Mercury:

“Officers executed a warrant at an address in Old Church Road, Enderby.

“A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and has since been released under investigation.

“In the interests of officer and public safety, armed officers were deployed to assist.”
