Network Rail are carrying out work to the bridge that carries the B581 Station Road over the railway at Elmesthorpe. This involves demolishing the old bridge and building a new one. Network Rail is carrying out the work to increase the headroom to allow larger rail freight containers to pass underneath the new bridge.
A temporary structure has been provided across the railway during this period to enable pedestrians to continue to use this route.
Burbage Common Road at Elmesthorpe has also been closed to through traffic from 27th September 2010, and it will not reopen until 6th May 2011. Footpath T89 is also closed and the alternative route is via Bostock Close and Station Road, Elmesthorpe. Footpath T89 will be closed until 3rd June 2011.
Every effort will be made to minimise disruption, but to avoid delays people are urged to find alternative routes. A diversion route will be clearly signed and details are included in the attached plan.
