Sporting achievements to be honoured

Enderby folk, along with others in Blaby District are being asked to name their sporting heroes to be honoured at Blaby district’s second annual sports awards.

Blaby District Council are hosting the event together with the Blaby Local Sports Alliance and are now looking for nominations for clubs and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to sport or health related activities in the district.

The awards will acknowledge sports people and teams who are constantly aiming to achieve and improve as well as the volunteers who help make activities possible.

Blaby Local sports Alliance is made up of the Blaby & Harborough School Sport Partnership, NHS Primary Care Trust, Voluntary Action Police, leisure centres, community disability groups and sports clubs as well as a representation from Leicestershire and Rutland Sport.

Councillor Karl Coles, chair of the Blaby Local Sports Alliance said:

“We have some fantastic young sports men and women achieving great successes in our district so it’s vital that we recognise them and the people behind the scenes that work so hard to make everything happen.”

Nominations are being accepted for the following categories:

  • Volunteer / official of the Year
  • Team of the year
  • Sports person of the year
  • Junior team of the year
  • Junior sports person of the year
  • Change 4 Life – health and wellbeing award
  • Blaby LSA special recognition award
