Snaps from dementia walks go on display

Posted on October 6, 2011November 27, 2011 by staff

An exhibition showing Blaby district through the eyes of people living with dementia and their carers opens in Leicester next Monday (October 10th) to mark World Mental Health day.

The photographs were taken during a series of summer ‘dementia walks’ organised by Blaby District Council and will be on display at Vaughan College, St Nicholas Place, until Friday November 4.

As part of the programme adults with dementia and their carers completed 12 countryside walks armed with a digital camera and supported by a professional photographer to create a record of their journeys.

Victoria Smith, the Council’s health improvement officer said:

“The group took some fantastic photographs which we hope portray the enjoyment they found in walking.”

For more information on the exhibition or other projects for carer’s in Blaby district contact the Council’s health and leisure team on leisure@blaby.gov.uk or 0116 272 7703.
