Service remembers lost little ones

Posted on October 31, 2012 by staff

Members of Leicester’s Hospitals’ chaplaincy team will hold the non-denominational service in the chapel at the Royal on Saturday 3rd November at 11am.

The service will include prayers, readings, poems and music.  During the service parents will have the opportunity to light a candle in memory of their baby and can request the name of their child to be read out.

Sian Ferris, specialist midwife, said:

“The death of a baby, for whatever reason, is an incredibly hard experience to go through. We feel this is an opportunity for families of all faiths and those who have no religious affiliation to meet together to remember the babies who have died.”

After the service refreshments will be available in the Boardroom where Sands befrienders and hospital staff are available to offer continued support for those who need someone to talk to
