New Lubbesthorpe

Second consultation on 4,250 homes plan

Posted on October 24, 2011February 8, 2012 by staff

New LubbesthorpeA second round of public consultation on plans for a major housing development in Lubbesthorpe is expected to take place early in 2012.

Blaby District Council originally planned to carry out a second consultation in autumn 2011 but delays in gathering traffic data have pushed the timescale back and it has been decided not to ask residents for their views over the busy Christmas holiday period.

The second consultation will give people a chance to comment on any changes or additions to the original plans as well as any new documents that have been submitted.

More than 1,500 people have already commented on the proposals to build 4,250 homes along with schools, shops, parks and two motorway bridges on land between Beggars Lane and the M1.

One of the biggest concerns already identified is the impact on traffic in the local area if the development is given the go-ahead. Given this, the Council wants to make sure all information on traffic surveys and studies is available before asking people to comment.

Everyone who was consulted during the first phase will be invited to comment again as well as anyone else who has given their views on the plans.

It is anticipated the Council will make a decision on the application in spring 2012.
