Refurbishment works get underway at Huncote leisure centre

Posted on November 4, 2019November 4, 2019 by staff

Gym goers in Huncote will soon have refreshed and extended facilities at their disposal, after refurbishment works have begun at their local leisure centre.

As reported in Enderby EYE on October 31st, the Pavilion Leisure Centre, managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Blaby District Council, is undergoing refurbishment works as part of the council’s £4.9m investment across both leisure facilities at The Pavilion and Enderby Leisure Centres.

This work is aimed at delivering high-quality and modern facilities for the local community.

Refurbishments at The Pavilion Leisure Centre started on the 28th October and are expected to finish in early December 2019.

The works being carried out include extending and refurbishing the existing gym, which will increase to 50 stations and provide a broader range of gym equipment. A brand-new outdoor functional training area is being added, as well as a new group cycling studio which will host virtual classes, and the changing rooms will also be refurbished.

The group fitness studio is being refreshed too, and a brand-new sports hall viewing lounge is being added downstairs.

The gym is expected to remain open for most of the works but will close for two days on 11th and 12th November. Some classes and bookings until 15th November 2019 will be relocated, while the group fitness studio is redecorated. Additionally, the changing rooms will be closed from the 18th November to early December whilst they undergo refurbishment.

Members at The Pavilion will be able to use alternative facilities at Enderby Leisure Centre, Wigston Pool and Fitness Centre, Parklands Leisure Centre, Lutterworth Sports Centre, Harborough Leisure Centre, Hood Park Leisure Centre and Hermitage Leisure Centre for the duration of the refurbishment works.

James Naylor, Contract Manager at Everyone Active, said: “Its fantastic that refurbishment works are now underway at The Pavilion Leisure Centre. When we entered into our partnership with Blaby District Council we did so with a mutual ambition to make the local community more active, more often.

“The refurbishments at The Pavilion, alongside those being undertaken at Enderby will help us to deliver on that ambition with a range of new facilities and ways to get active at both centres. I’d like to thank members for their patience while the works are being carried out and we look forward to showing off the new facilities once they are complete.”

John Richardson, Strategic Director at Blaby District Council, said: “We are excited to see the works at the Pavilion Leisure Centre get underway. The fantastic first phase of refurbishments at Enderby Leisure Centre shows that these improvements are of a high standard to benefit both existing and new members signing up.”

These improvements form part of a £4.9m investment across Blaby District Council’s leisure facilities at the Enderby and Pavilion Leisure Centres. Renovations at Enderby Leisure Centre began in May and phase two of the works is now underway, with works at both sites anticipated to be complete by the end of the year.
