Officers investigating a fatal collision on Narborough Road at the beginning of the month are re-appealing for motorists who were travelling along that road to come forward.
The collision occurred at about 4.22am on Friday September 2 on the A5460, Narborough Road and involved one vehicle, a silver Renault Master van.
The driver of the van and one of the two passengers received minor injuries and were treated at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
The second passenger, Mr Soyab Bhaiji (22) of Leicester, received serious injuries and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he subsequently died on Thursday September 8.
A 43-year-old man was arrested on Friday September 2 in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Constable Ady Keeble is investigating the incident, he said: “The vehicle was travelling along Narborough Road citybound when the collision occurred just before the Tesco Express service station.
“From enquiries we have made so far we believe that a dark saloon type vehicle was travelling ahead of the van and both vehicles slowed down at the traffic lights at the junction of Narborough Road and Braunstone Lane, opposite the Braunstone Working Men’s Club.
“We would urge the occupants of that car to contact the police as they may be able to provide valuable information about the collision or the events leading up to it.
“We would also urge anyone else who was travelling along Narborough Road in the early hours of Friday September 2 and hasn’t yet been in touch with the police to do so.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 506 Ady Keeble on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer’s identification number 0506.
