Posted on February 22, 2019 by staff

Police investigating a break-in at a premises in Fosse Shopping Park, Leicester, today released a statement saying they have recovered a car thought to be involved in the incident.

During the day, the Leicester Mercury reported that it understood two shops were affected, Carphone Warehouse and Clarks.

The police statement, on the force website reads:
Officers were called at around 12.15am this morning (Friday) by on-site security reporting a car having driven into a shop front.

It is believed that four occupants of the vehicle then entered the shop momentarily before fleeing the scene minutes later. The suspects were seen to be carrying bags out of the premises.

It is not yet known what if anything was stolen in the burglary.

A cordon which was in place to allow for an investigation of the scene has since been removed.

PC Michael Trobe is investigating the incident, he said: “From enquiries carried out so far we know that the suspects arrived at the scene in a dark coloured car which was reversed into the window of the shop.

“A vehicle has since been recovered and enquiries are being carried out to ascertain if it was the same car used in the break-in.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 101 and quote crime reference number 19*92213.
