Put your petition online

Posted on April 5, 2011November 27, 2011 by staff

*People who live, work or study in Blaby district can start an online petition to gather signatures and share information about their cause.

The Active ePetitions service at www.blaby.gov.uk/epetitions allows a petition to be created and signed online giving people the chance to view what it is about and decide whether they want to give their support without having to rely on being shown a paper copy to sign.

At least 25 signatures are needed for a petition to be presented to the Council and those with more than 750 names (or 55% of a parish area) are automatically put forward to be debated by councillors at full council.

Petitions about planning and licensing applications or anything where there is already an existing right of appeal such as council tax banding will not be accepted and they must also relate to something the Council has sole or joint responsibility for which directly affects Blaby district.

People should read the guidelines at www.blaby.gov.uk/petitions before submitting any petition.

For more information email democratic@blaby.gov.uk or contact 0116 272 7638.
