Police appeal for information after incidents at Fosse Shopping Park

Police are appealing for information about a series of incidents which happened at Fosse Shopping Park yesterday evening (Monday 9 January).

A woman reported to security guards that a teenage boy was following her while touching himself inappropriately.

Two further reports were received of a teenage boy assaulting two girls and touching them inappropriately.

The incidents happened between 7.30pm and 8pm. They did not occur inside stores.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incidents and has been charged with three counts of sexual assault.

Two of the charges relate to incidents at Fosse Park Shopping Centre and one relates to an incident St Margaret’s Bus Station, all on Monday 9th January.

The boy has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual assault against a child under the age of 13.

He has been remanded into custody and will appear at court (Wednesday 11th January).

Detective Inspector Kenny Henry said:

“I would like to thank the prompt and effective actions of the security guards at the shopping centre who initially responded to reports and worked closely with our officers during enquiries.

“I would like to hear from anyone who was at Fosse Park at around the time of the incidents and believes they could have information which would help us with the investigation.

“Did you see any of the incidents take place? Have you got information which could help us? Please call us now on 101 and quote incident 590 of 9 January.”

A spokesperson from Fosse Shopping Park said:

“The wellbeing and security of our customers is always our highest priority and our team is continuing to work closely with the authorities to assist their investigation.”
