An application for a new development by Enderby based Everards Brewery has been given planning approval.

The new development will comprise a new brewery with offices, brewery tap and restaurant along with a temporary events marquee.

Approval was also given for the erection of a footbridge over the River Soar with cycle paths linking to the Grand Union Canal Conservation Area, leading to Leicester City Centre.

The move is anticipated to be completed by late 2017.

Located adjacent to their current site, Everards will remain a long-standing business within the district, along with Fosse Park, Sytner and Next.

Development businesses located in Enderby include The Marriott, David Lloyd, Santander and British Gas. Other major employers in the district include Leicestershire County Council and Leicestershire Police.

Councillor Tony Greenwood MBE, Blaby District Council Portfolio Holder for Planning and Economic Development, said:

“This is an exciting development that further highlights businesses’ desire to stay within our district when looking to relocate their premises.

“We are proud to have so many major businesses and retail stores in the district, making our area one of the most attractive for enterprise and shoppers alike.”

The development was first mooted in December 2011 when details of the exapansion were first published (see EYE news report 02/12/11)
