Partners offer a dedicated sports ‘taster day’ in Huncote for people with disabilities

pavilion sportA dedicated sports taster day is being offered for people with disabilities.

Blaby District Council is introducing ‘Have a Go Day’ in partnership with Harborough District Council, Oadby and Wigston Borough Council and Ellesmere College.

The day will be packed full of inclusive activities for adults with physical, mental and/or learning disabilities.

The event will take place on Tuesday 30 June from 10am-3pm at The Pavilion Leisure Centre, Sportsfield Lane, Huncote, LE9 3BN.

Sports on offer will include boccia, walking football and table tennis, as well as information sessions about how to participate in sport and physical activities.

Admission for the day is just £2.

Councillor Sheila Scott, portfolio holder for Health Improvement and Leisure Services, said:

“Our disability action plan is to offer fun activities and new opportunities to residents in the district with physical, mental and/or learning difficulties.

“I’m delighted that along with our partners at Harborough and Oadby and Wigston give people the opportunity to participate in sporting activities.”
