Packed programme of activities helps residents ‘get active’

Posted on January 3, 2013January 3, 2013 by staff

A packed programme of fun physical activities begins in January to encourage Enderby residents and others elsewhere in Blaby district to get active, starting their new year’s plans for getting fit on the right foot.

Monday January 21 will also see the start of Move More 4 Less Week, where a range of activities across the county will be available for only £1.

Activities across the district include:

Just Jhoom Bollywood Dancing at Winstanley Community College starts Monday January 21 from 6.30pm – 7.30pm
Hula Hooping at Blaby Methodist Church Hall starts Monday 21 January from 7pm – 8pm
Beginners Running Group at Ellis Park, Glenfield, starts Thursday January 24 from 1.30pm – 2.30pm

January will also see the launch of the Active Together Workplace Challenge, aimed at local organisations and promotes a more active lifestyle with innovative methods to stay active.

Darren Farish, physical activity development officer at Blaby District Council, said:

This year we have a massive range of activities on offer with the hope there is something to suit everyone. The launch of Move More 4 Less could not come at a better time and allows people to try out new activities for only £1.

After the indulgence of the festive season, making a new start towards a more active lifestyle can put you on the right track to enjoy improved health benefits, quality of life and overall wellbeing.

People can keep up to date with activities and events across Blaby district by following Active Together Blaby on Facebook and Twitter.
