Young Blaby district residents have been exploring their local parks, looking for clues and completing challenges.

It’s all part of Xplorer, a free outdoor navigational challenge for the whole family to enjoy, involving a healthy mix of physical activity and decision making.

Using a simple map of the park the aim is to find the points marked on the map and write down the name of the secret animal or colour.

Isabella MacSwiney, aged 5, took part in Xplorer last Saturday at Fosse Meadows and said of Xplorer:

“I like it because I can find the animal cards by myself and I get lots of exercise.”

Hannah Bestwick, Community Physical Activity Development Officer at Blaby District Council, said:

“[It’s] a great way to get families more active whilst making the most of the district’s attractive green spaces.”

Xplorer is taking place every weekend over the summer at parks including Fosse Meadows, Bouskell Park, Mossdale Meadows and Glen Parva Nature Reserve.

The next one is Saturday May 25 at Bouskell Park, 10.30 – 11.30am.
