A free event bringing a host of advice and information services together to help the unemployed and those facing the prospect of redundancy get back into work will be held at Braunstone Civic Centre, Kingsway, on Tuesday May 21.
The Opportunities 4 Jobs event, organised by Blaby District Council in partnership with Leics Adult Learning and Prospects will run from 9.30am until 12 noon.
It aims to offer advice on training and adult education courses, starting a new business venture, benefit allowances, interview and job application skills as well as volunteering options.
Local employers, recruitment agencies and support organisations are being invited to take part.
Carole Troake, Economic Development, Policy and Research Assistant, at Blaby District Council said:
“Unemployment continues to be a real issue for many in our District. It is important that the Council works with partners to come up with the right solutions to support local people.
“The aim of this event is to offer a hand of support to those who are out of work including the many young people who have never had a job and need help now to find routes into work.”
Organisations attending so far include Blaby District Council’s Benefits & Resident Support teams, Community Action Partnership, Leicestershire County Council Adult Learning Service and Apprenticeships, Acorn training, A4E (Action for Employment), Prospects, South Leics College, Job Centre Plus and Voluntary Action Leicestershire.
Limited free car parking and refreshments will be available.
