Older Persons’ Guide launches in Blaby District

Posted on June 9, 2014 by staff

photo: Older Persons Guide LeafletThis month sees the launch of the Older Persons’ Guide, a comprehensive booklet full of information about local services, groups and activities for people aged 50 years and over.

Produced by Blaby District Council, the guide not only lists information in each parish, it also provides details of district and county-wide services for example specialist older persons’ organisations such as Age UK, health, social care and housing services; carers’ support groups and libraries.

Councillor David Freer, new Portfolio Holder for Partnerships and Corporate Services, said:

“Ageing well is a key ambition and priority area of work in Blaby. We know that isolation can be a big concern for older residents.

“We hope that by producing this comprehensive guide residents, particularly those who may be vulnerable or isolated, can be kept informed and involved in community life and easily find any help they need to stay healthy and safe in later life.”

Copies of the free guide will be available at Blaby District Council offices, libraries, GP surgeries and other community groups and venues. You can also access a copy online at www.blabystayinghealthy.co.uk/uploads/blaby-older-peoples-guide-final.pdf

If you have any questions about the guide or would like to register your group to be included in the next edition, please contact the Partnerships Team at Blaby District Council on 0116 272 7566 or email strategic.partnerships@blaby.gov.uk
