For the twelfth year, the search is on to find and honour community champions in Blaby District.
The Outstanding Achievement Awards, which has been running since 2004, are back and this time with four categories and a returning main sponsor.
Friends, family and workmates are being asked to put forward individuals or groups who they think deserve recognition for making a difference in their community.
The categories are:
Good friend/good neighbour
Volunteer of the year
Young achiever of the year
Best community group/community achievement
Council Leader Terry Richardson said:
Cllr Terry Richardson
“First launched in 2004, these awards recognise and reward the individual excellence and team achievement that takes place in our community.
“The awards enable us to honour and publically thank
those people who work tirelessly ‘behind the scenes’ as unsung heroes.
“There are so many people doing great things in our district and it is important we recognise their achievements.
“I’m looking forward to seeing which local heroes we can uncover this time round.”
Since the launch of the Achievement Awards more than 90 local groups and individuals have received recognition.
Finalists will be invited to a presentation dinner on Thursday 1 October 2015 where cash prizes and awards will be presented to the winners and runners up.
Nominations can be submitted online at www.blaby.gov.uk/awards or you can request a form by contacting the communications team at public.relations@blaby.gov.uk or by calling 0116 272 7577.
The deadline for entries is Monday 10 August 2015.
