outstanding achievement awardsThe Outstanding Achievement Awards celebrate those truly remarkable people who play key roles within our communities or have achieved something amazing.

For the thirteenth year, the search is on to find and honour the dedicated people who provide vital services or support to others, both young and old who have demonstrated a passion and commitment to helping others across the district of Blaby.

The Awards also seeks to recognise successes of those inspiring young people who have achieved something outstanding.

The Council is encouraging friends, family and workmates to put forward individuals or groups who they think deserve recognition for making a difference in their community.

To nominate someone for an Award simply visit the District Council’s website  (www.blaby.gov.uk/awards) and submit the nomination before Monday 08 August 2016.

Hosted by BBC East Midlands News Presenter Maurice Flynn, nominees and their guests will enjoy an evening to remember at the Marriott Hotel, Leicester on Thursday 29 September 2016, where cash prizes and awards will be presented to the winners and runners up.

The categories are:

  • Good friend/Good neighbour
    – Sponsored by Westleigh Developments
  • Volunteer of the Year
    – Sponsored by Marriott Leicester
  • Young Achiever of the Year
    – Sponsored by Ford & Slater

Councillor Terry Richardson, Leader of Blaby District Council, said:

“I am very proud to be able to launch these awards. Across the district we have inspirational people who do wonderful things whilst asking for no reward or thanks.

“We have been able to honour these people for over a decade through our Achievement Awards, and thanks to our returning sponsors this year is no exception.”

The 2016 awards have received generous sponsorship from main sponsor Casepak, back for the third year, with Fosse Shopping Park, Ford & Slater, Leicester Marriott and Westleigh Developments also making significant contributions to make the awards possible.

As well as visiting the website, hard copy forms can be requested by contacting the communications team at public.relations@blaby.gov.uk or by calling 0116 272 7577.
