Posted on May 12, 2014 by staff

100-awards-smallThe search is on to find and honour community champions in the Blaby District.

The Outstanding Achievement Awards, which celebrated running for a decade last year, are back and this time with four new categories and a new main sponsor.

Friends, family and workmates are being asked to put forward individuals or groups who they think deserve recognition for making a difference in their community.

The categories are:
Good friend/good neighbour
Volunteer of the year
Young achiever of the year
Best community group/community achievement

Council Leader Ernie White said:

“Following a fantastic ten years I am delighted to announce the Outstanding Achievement Awards are back and this time with Casepak as the new main sponsor, as well as four new categories to submit nominations for.

“There are so many people doing wonderful things in our district and it is important we recognise their achievements. I’m looking forward to seeing which local heroes we can uncover this time round.”

The 2014 awards have received generous sponsorship from Casepak, Fosse Shopping Park, Ford & Slater, Leicester Marriott and Westleigh Developments ltd.

Finalists will be invited to a presentation dinner on Thursday 2 October 2014 where cash prizes and awards will be presented to the winners and runners up.

Nominations can be submitted online at www.blaby.gov.uk/awards or you can request a form by contacting the communications team at public.relations@blaby.gov.uk or by calling 0116 272 7577.

The deadline for entries is Saturday 9 August 2014.
