People are once again being urged to nominate their local heroes for Blaby district’s seventh Outstanding Achievement Awards.
Friends, families, and workmates are being asked to put forward individuals or groups who they think deserve recognition for exceptional work in the community.
Last year 89-year-old Donald Wills won an award for making the district a safer place after volunteering as a neighbourhood watch co-ordinator in Braunstone for 13 years.
Trevor Matthews works for Braunstone Town Council and put Donald forward for the award, he said:
“I nominated Donald because of the number of years he has served his community, and the fact that he is still doing it now is incredible.
“There must be lots of others in the community doing great work like him so let’s find them and give them the recognition they deserve.”
Nominations are now being accepted for the following categories:
The 2010 awards have received generous sponsorship from Grove Park Commercial Centre, Fosse Shopping Park, Bardon Aggregates, Ford & Slater, Leicester Marriott and Sytner Group.
