Council staff who cycle to work are being rewarded with breakfast when they arrive as part of Bike Week 2010, which is running from June 19th - 27th.
Officers at Blaby District Council are being tempted to get on their bikes with the promise of beans on toast, scrambled eggs or a croissant.
Those who do make it to work on two wheels will also be offered a free bike service at the council offices in Narborough.
Councillor Guy Jackson, portfolio holder for the natural environment said:
“Anything we can do to encourage staff and residents to ditch their cars and cycle to work has to be a positive and we are doing everything we can to respond to the challenge of climate change.”
“The hope is that people will try cycling to work as part of Bike Week, and enjoy it so much they carry on throughout the rest of the year.”
Bike Week is the UK's biggest annual celebration of cycling. This year's theme is 'everyday cycling for everyone!'
