There is a newly formed Marie Curie Cancer Care Support Group in South Leicestershire involved in organising several fund raising events for the charity.
The group are helping Marie Curie Cancer Care make a real difference to many local people with cancer.
All the money raised by the South Leicestershire Support Group will help more Marie Curie Nurses to provide free care to patients with terminal cancer and other illnesses in the comfort of their own homes or one of the charity’s hospices.
Area fundraising manager Marea Roberts said:
"I know everyone who becomes involved in fundraising activities will have a lot of fun and make new friends at the same time as raising vital funds to help local families who are going through the most difficult and tragic time.
"The money raised by the new group will be used to fund Marie Curie Cancer Care nurses who give high quality care totally free of charge to terminally ill people the choice of dying at home supported by their families.
"The NHS pays just some off the cost leaving the charity to raise around £20.00 for every hour each nurse works."
The first fundraising event, a 'Blooming Great Tea Party', is being held on Wednesday 23rd June from 2.30pm to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care and everyone is invited.
The tea party, which is taking place at 52 Abbey Road, Enderby, will include tea and home made cakes, plant sale, Phoenix cards and raffle.
