A long standing member of Enderby Bowls Club, John Hibbett, has recently donated a new trophy to the Club.
Although ill health prevents John from playing bowls, he still takes a great interest in the sport and turns out to support the club whenever possible.
It was a great pleasure to have John present when the members turned out on Sunday May 16th to compete for this new trophy by playing Australian Bowls.
The eventual winners, on points scored, were Arthur Higgs and Yvonne Lear.
Runners-up were Jack Shepherd and his partner Jackie Noble.
The Trophy will be officially be presented at the Club Presentation Night in November at Cosby Golf Club.
Viewers of Enderby EYE may not be aware that in Blaby District and surrounding area there are a total of eight outdoor Bowls Clubs.
Apart from Enderby, these are located at Blaby, Narborough, Countesthorpe, Kirby Muxloe, Glenfield, Shakespeare Park and Leicester Banks.
Opportunities are available at all these clubs to try out the sport of Outdoor Bowling; many also have thriving social clubs and entertainment right through the year, where you can relax and make friends playing crib, bingo, learning to paint, play whist, skittles, dancing, etc., etc. The choice is yours!
Licensed bars are available at some venues.
Over the coming weeks we shall be looking at the individual clubs, all of whom are happy to accept new members and everyone is assured of a warm welcome.
The club will once again be hosting their very popular Mens' Open Triples Gala, taking place on Sunday 27th June with play commencing at 10.00am.
The rink fee is £24.00 (payable in advance) and includes tea or coffee on arrival and a two course lunch served at 12.30.
Each team will play 4 games of 8 ends. Dress Code whites
There are, as usual, substantial cash prizes to be won. Friends are invited to stay for lunch at a cost of £4.00 per head, payable in advance.
Please telephone Joyce Dorricott on 0116 286 7901 for an entry form or contact via e-mail: jmdorricott@yahoo.co.uk
Entry forms have also been circulated around all Leicestershire Bowls Clubs and members should contact their respective club secretaries for a copy.
Enderby Bowls Club look forward to welcoming all to the club!
