Six new booklets featuring ‘Strolls on your Doorstep’ are now available.
Each booklet features ten walks ranging from a short stroll around a local park to a longer countryside ramble.
The six booklets, which have been produced by Leicestershire County Council in partnership with ‘Active Together’, feature walks in Hinckley and Burbage, Loughborough, Melton, north of Leicester (Watermead / Syston), Oadby and Wigston and West of Leicester (Glenfield and beyond) – and more titles are planned.
Strolls on your doorstep contain clear maps, directions and grading for each walk, making them suitable for all abilities including those with pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Lesley Pendleton, County Council Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said:
“There are many health benefits of walking - keeping your heart strong and reducing blood pressure, reducing stress and helping with weight loss.
“Walking can be a very sociable activity shared with friends and family, and best of all it’s free.
“Trying the ‘Strolls on your doorstep’ is the perfect way to get some exercise – you could even set yourself a challenge and try and complete all ten walks in a booklet!”
