Wart removal, herbal remedies and the practical usage of poisons as cures will be demonstrated and discused at Enderby Library this week, when local historian Trevor Parr visits in the guise of a 17th century apothecary.
Trevor, who will visit in costume as Johannes Beresford of the Apothecary's Guild, will be hosting a talk on the community role these early physicians and alchemists played.
"Modern people might find some of their methods shocking," said Trevor, "particularly the use of arsenic to cure ailments and their belief in magic.
"This promises to be an eye-opening history lesson for members of the public."
The talk, which will take place on the evening of Wednesday 19th May, is part of Adult Learning Week, a time devoted to the challenge and enjoyment of learning something new.
Please join Trevor for this event at Enderby Library on Wednesday 19th May, between 6 and 7pm.
Tickets cost £2 each and will include refreshments.
Tickets can be bought from Enderby library in person, or by phoning on 0116 3053523.
