New Structure of Blaby Local Policing Unit means new Neighbourhood Officers for Enderby

From January 25th 2010 Blaby Local Policing Unit will have three dedicated Neighbourhood Sergeants who will have responsibility for the 3 geographical areas covered by Blaby LPU.

These three areas are co-terminus with the County Council Community forums. The areas will be North, Central and South.

Neighbourhood Officer

PC Julie WatkinsNew neighbourhood officer for Enderby, PC Julie Watkins, has served on the Leicestershire force for the last 9 years and currently works with the Blaby Local Policing Unit.

"I have also worked in other areas", she says, "including Braunstone and Beaumont Leys as a general duty officer.

"As the Enderby beat officer I would like to establish links with the community, tackle anti-social behaviour and promote pro-active policing.

"I am keen to tackle local issues that effect residents and also hear their concerns."

Police Community Support Officer

PCSO Sophie HowardPCSO (Police Community Support Officer) Sophie Howard continues as PCSO for Enderby. She says her aim is to maintain a visibile presence in the village, provide reassurance and ensuring that she is accessible to residents in the area.

"I am working hard to build a strong relationship with the people of Enderby", she says, "...helping them to make Enderby a safe and great place to live."

The new dedicated Sergeants of the L.P.U. will have responsibility for the Neighbourhood Teams and will oversee the management of the Neighbourhoods.

The neighbourhoods have been re-defined and will become co-terminus with Blaby District Council ward boundaries.It is anticipated that this and the introduction of Neighbourhood Sergeants will strengthen and build on the existing foundation of Neighbourhood Policing and improve partnership working.

Along with Enderby, neighbouring areas of Braunstone Town, Blaby, Whetstone and Glen Parva all have new Neighbourhood Officers.

From January 25th, the new complement of the Blaby L.P.U. is as below:

Blaby North
Blaby North will consist of the Neighbourhoods and officers below:

  • Glenfield - PC 1851 Turner, PCSO 6508 Chapman and PCSO 6160 Crossley.
  • Kirby Muxloe - PC 1380 Sutherley and PC 6107 Wright.
  • Leicester Forest East - PC 153 Ahmed, PCSO 6577 Malik and PCSO 6188 Grady.
  • Thorpe Astley - PC 1955 Aston and PCSO 6103 Dedmen-Ert.
  • Braunstone Town - PC 4451 Sonja Freeston PC 1834 Bedwell, PCSO 6013 Whitbread and PCSO 6076 Shine.
  • Fosse Park - PC 738 Leith and PCSO 6077 Marsden.

PS 4322 Rachael Payne will be the Blaby North Neighbourhood Sergeant.

Blaby Central
Blaby Central will consist of the Neighbourhoods and officers below:

  • Enderby - PC 4282 Watkins and PCSO 6121 Howard.
  • Narborough & Littlethorpe - PC 1194 Lloyd and PCSO 6073 Stevenson.
  • Blaby, Whetstone & Glen Parva - PC 845 Taylor, PC 2247 Cross, PCSO 6111 Frain and PCSO 6176 Sharpe.
  • Countesthorpe, Cosby, Foston & Kilby - PC 2249 Hurst, PCSO 6144 Slatford and PCSO 6873 Phipps.

PS 731 Lee Westbury will be the Blaby Central Neighbourhood Sergeant.

Blaby South will consist of the Fosse Villages.
PC 936 Vadhia and PCSO 6124 Spencer will be the Neighbourhood Officers.
