From January 25th 2010 Blaby Local Policing Unit will have three dedicated Neighbourhood Sergeants who will have responsibility for the 3 geographical areas covered by Blaby LPU.
These three areas are co-terminus with the County Council Community forums. The areas will be North, Central and South.
New neighbourhood officer for Enderby, PC Julie Watkins, has served on the Leicestershire force for the last 9 years and currently works with the Blaby Local Policing Unit.
"I have also worked in other areas", she says, "including Braunstone and Beaumont Leys as a general duty officer.
"As the Enderby beat officer I would like to establish links with the community, tackle anti-social behaviour and promote pro-active policing.
"I am keen to tackle local issues that effect residents and also hear their concerns."
PCSO (Police Community Support Officer) Sophie Howard continues as PCSO for Enderby. She says her aim is to maintain a visibile presence in the village, provide reassurance and ensuring that she is accessible to residents in the area.
"I am working hard to build a strong relationship with the people of Enderby", she says, "...helping them to make Enderby a safe and great place to live."
The new dedicated Sergeants of the L.P.U. will have responsibility for the Neighbourhood Teams and will oversee the management of the Neighbourhoods.
The neighbourhoods have been re-defined and will become co-terminus with Blaby District Council ward boundaries. It is anticipated that this and the introduction of Neighbourhood Sergeants will strengthen and build on the existing foundation of Neighbourhood Policing and improve partnership working.
