Budding Steven Spielbergs are being sought make their own video about how youngsters can stay safe on the internet.
Leicestershire County Council is running the Netiquette campaign, which gives young people a set of rules for behaving properly when online.
Schools are invited to send in their ideas for filming the Netiquette guidelines and the winners will have their storyboards turned into a video, filmed at the school.
To give youngsters ideas for the video competition, a 40-second Netiquette film, made by the County Council, has been put on the council's website.
Schools have until Friday, April 18, to register for the competition on the County Council website and their entry should explain up to three Netiquette rules in no more than six scenes.
The winning school will receive a visit from a County Council camera crew and pupils will have the chance to get involved in the making of the video.
Ivan Ould, cabinet member with responsibility for the Children and Young People's Service, said: "This set of Netiquette rules gives youngsters a clear idea of how to use the internet responsibly. The competition is also a great chance for pupils to have fun filming and creating their own video.”
The Netiquette rules have been created because sometimes people forget when they are online they are dealing with real human beings and not just characters on screen. The rules include:
