Walkers are being invited to join in a five-mile 'Sunflower Spring Stroll' in aid of the local charity LOROS.
The event is due to take place on Monday, April 7, starting at 10am and participants will need to raise at least £20 in sponsorship money and a free 'Sponsorship Pack' is available (see link below).
The stroll will take place around a circular route beginning at the Huncote Pavilion in Sportsfield Lane, Huncote, and take in Thurlaston and Normanton Park.
After the walk, participants in the stroll will be able to relax and enjoy a free ploughman's lunch.
The event is to raise cash for the LOROS (Leicestershire and Rutland Organisation for the Relief of Suffering) hospice and is part of the Active Together Blaby project.
The project in Blaby aims to encourage men and women of all ages over 16 to take part in more exercise, in particular young people between 16 - 25 years and people over 45 years and get them to do 30 minutes of some sort of physical activity three times a week.
The Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice is a specialist centre providing skilled nursing and medical care in an environment that recognises the particular needs of patients and their families.
The NHS supports the work of the Hospice by providing 40% of the running costs, but the organisation relies on the support of local people, companies and organisations in order to raise £4 million of voluntary income each year.
Anyone who wishes to take part in the Sunflower Spring Stroll can contact the Loros fund-raising office on 0116 231 8431, or e-mail: fundraising @ loros.co.uk
