On Friday 8th, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall dropped in on Barnardo's CareFree Project in Enderby. She was there in her capacity as current President of the Barnardo's children's charity.

Her visit enabled her to meet young carers who are involved in the charity's CareFree Project, which is based at Westpoint, Feldspar Close, Warren Park, Enderby.

She and her husband The Prince of Wales were in Leicester on a whistle-stop tour that included the Newarke Houses Museum and Walker's Stadium.

Whilst the Prince undertook a visit to the St Philip's Centre in Evington, Camilla made the journey to Enderby.

During her brief visit to the CareFree Project she was introduced to a number of young carers who undertake a wide range of domestic tasks and responsibilities, as well as providing nursing, personal care and emotional support.

On her arrival the Duchess was presented with flowers as she spoke to the charity workers and also to a number of parents who rely on their children to care for them on a day to day basis.

HRH The Duchess of Cornwall was formally announced as Barnardo’s President at the charity’s Annual General Meeting in October 2007. She succeeded Cherie Booth QC, following the successful completion of Cherie’s second three-year term.
