A special event is being held across libraries in Leicestershire on Saturday 9 February where literally everything is Free!
The event celebrates the free nature of libraries - everybody knows it's free to join the library, you can borrow books for free and most people know libraries have computers, with access to the internet via broadband which is also free, but what else can you get for nothing that day?
- No overdue charges
- free DVD hire
- free CD hire
- free talking book loans
- free requests
- free printing
50 libraries across the county now open all day on Saturdays. On Saturday 9 February, until 5.00pm, if you've forgotten to take a book back recently or if you've been too scared to take it back for a while, now's your chance, as you won't have to pay a penny in overdue charges.
Even if you're a regular borrower of CDs, DVDs and talking books from libraries or if you've never given them a go before, why not go to the library and borrow them for free. Most CDs, DVDs and talking books are available on weekly loan, so you also don't need to rush back the next day.
If your local library doesn't have a book in stock that you'd really like to read, why not call in on the free day and order it for free. Most books take only a week to come in from when you order them. If Leicestershire libraries haven't got the book you want in stock, they may be able to buy it in for you for free. If you can't make it in on the free day, you can still request books for £1.10.
If you've booked one of the computers on Saturday 9 February you might not need to take any extra money with you as you can have up to 6 print outs free of charge.
Why not pop in and borrow a DVD for the family to watch over half term - you'll also be able to find out about Focus on China events happening throughout February in libraries across the county.
