30 January 2008

Focus on China

Adults and children are being invited to enter a quiz competition throughout February as part of a 'Focus on China' month at Leicestershire libraries.

The 'Focus on China' event is to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Leicestershire's official twinning relationship with Sichuan province by hosting a number of events and activities to promote library resources relating to China.

Winners' prizes will include authentic Chinese tea sets, a complimentary meal for two in a Chinese restaurant, a language taster session in Mandarin, Chinese cookery books and a calligraphy set.

The library service has also produced a colourful booklet containing interesting facts about China and Sichuan, plus details of other sources of useful information.

On 11th February, Enderby Library will be presenting stories and crafts for half term. The session will run between 2.30 and 4pm and is suitable for 5 - 11 year olds. No booking is required.

Blaby Library is staging stories and crafts for half term between 2.00 and 3.30pm on February 14th and 'Panda Pandemonium' - Stories and rhymes for 0 - 4 year olds and their carers - between 10.00 and 10.30am on February 16th. No booking required for either event.
