Scores of regulars and visitors turned out for this year's Fun Day in aid of the Rainbows Children's Hospice, held at the Nag's Head public house on Cross Street in Enderby.

During the last decade, the Nag's Head Public House in Cross Street has held an annual family Fun Day in aid of the Hospice.

To date over £18,000.00 has been raised for this worthy cause and the pub is recognised by Rainbows as an Honorary Friend.

This years fun events leading up to the 'Big Day' commenced on Sunday 17th August with a knock out pool competition.

On Saturday 25th, regulars of the pub took part in a fancy dress pub-crawl around the local village pubs and clubs followed by a Disco in the Nag's Head.

The 'Fun Day' (main family event) took place on Bank Holiday Sunday, 26th August at the Nag's Head pub, where visitors enjoyed events throughout the day, including tombola, hook-a-duck, bouncy castle, penalty shoot-out, cake stall, raffle, stocks and more!

Crew from Leicester Fire & Rescue Service attended to offer a 'close-up' glimpse of a fire engine and talk to visitors about their work

Hot dogs and burgers were on sale and those attending enjoyed an all day (and night) disco.

'Boog the Bear' heads for ebay...

During the Fun Day visitors were invited to 'guess the height' in a competition to win a large bear.

During the day itself 'Boog' gazed down from the roof of the pub. Boog the bear is a character from the film 'Open Season' and is about 4 and a half feet tall

Winner of the competition (Nicky) kindly returned the bear to raise extra money for Rainbows.

As they have asked so much of their regulars, the Fun Day organisers have decided to auction the bear on e-bay (Item Number: 270161686046). [Link no longer functional]

As always, there are too many people to mention but thanks go to all who helped out or donated, especially Helen, Paul, Gail, Bill, Nicky, Jean, all the staff from The Nags Head - and of course Shelia & Tom (The Landlords). Also, thanks go to all at Aspects, The New Inn, The Conservative Club, The Dog & Gun and The Social Club plus the passers by who gave so generously.

Photos from the day are available on CDs which will be on sale at the Nags Head. Each CD contains over 300 photos ...a snip at £2.00! As always, all money from the sale of CDs is channelled to the Rainbows Fund.
