Following successful events in previous years, scores of regulars, guests and visitors turned up on Sunday 27th August to take part in a family Fun Day held at the Nags Head public house on Cross Street, Enderby. The event is held to raise money for Rainbows Children's Hospice.

It actually all began the previous Saturday evening, when 30 people took part in a fancy dress pub-crawl. The organisers would like to thank all the generous people who donated at Aspects at The Plough, The New Inn, Enderby Social Club and The Dog & Gun.

Everyone then got some rest before resuming at 12 noon on Sunday 27th August, with fun activities continuing right through to 11.00pm in the evening.

Sunday afternoon began relatively quietly, but just got busier and busier!

Fortunately, apart from a few brief overcast periods, the sun managed to shine down on the revellers.

As always, the Bouncy Castle proved with younger folk and Gail struggled at times keeping order.

One of the day's attractions was the chance to get behind the wheel of a giant 5.5 litre saloon car. The luxury car featured as part of a raffle prize, whereby the lucky winner would be driven into a city bar for a champagne treat!

A visit early on by the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service unfortunately had to be curtailed due to a flat battery.

Nicky did a roaring trade 'Face Painting' and Ian & Sally's Tombola was a sell out.

Trudy was busy in the kitchen all day and sold all the Hot Dogs and Burgers.

The Stokes raised a small fortune - especially Tom Wyllie - the landlord (over £100).

The McDonalds Children's Fancy Dress competition produced joint winners,
Jade Mathews and Callum Levis.

As day turned into night, everyone retired into the bar where the Raffle for over 40 prizes was drawn. A list of winners is available for inspection at the bar of the Nags Head.

Revellers were able to dance the night away to sounds provided by Paul Marsden, of Paul Marsden Discos, who had been entertaining throughout the day. Both he and Helen Wiltshire (Manager of the Nags Head) were probably exhausted by the time this year's festivities drew to a close at 11pm.

Nevertheless, come Monday morning there was much clearing up to be done. Thanks go to Ian and Sally who were first in the garden helping to clear up.

The organisers wish to thank the many people, too numerous to mention, who helped make a it a great Fun Day.

A big 'thank you' also to the day's sponsors (especially DC at VooDoo Bar and Boots at Fosse Park) and to all the people who attended and gave so generously.

See everyone again next year!
