New waste collection service begins on Monday

Blaby rebranded waste collection vehicle

The new alternate weekly Refuse and Recycling Service for residents in the District of Blaby begins from Monday.

Starting on 2nd July 2018, all households will have their waste collected on an alternate week basis, with recycling collected in one week, and refuse collected on the other week. Garden waste collections will remain the same.

Residents were provided with a bin hanger notice placed on their bin in June that included dates for collections up to the end of November.

Any residents who may not have received a notice can find dates for their property via www.blaby.gov.uk/collections.

Over 10,000 orders were received for bins between April and June and over 16,000 bins have now been distributed in time for the start of the new service.

An order window will be open until Thursday 30th August for residents who would like larger or additional bins once the new service is underway. Depending on household size, residents could be entitled to a free bin upgrade.

More information about the new service can be found by visiting www.blaby.gov.uk/waste2018.
