‘The best performance yet’ ‘great variety’ ‘a slick, unique concert to the highest of standards’
These were just a few of the comments received by Lesia Smaditch, Musical Director of Musical Village, following the two performances of their Concert performed on 10th and 11th December 2016 at Brockington College in Enderby.
As a conductor and musical director, Lesia has developed and leads a number of community choirs around Leicestershire.
Lesia (a full member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians) offers community members, both young and old, an opportunity to explore the joy of choral singing.
The theme this year was ‘Christmas Around the World’ and both choir and audience enjoyed a variety of festive songs in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Swahili, Macedonian to name but a few!
Special guests were ‘Mriya’ a Ukrainian Choir based in Manchester who entertained everyone with their lovely traditional songs.
Musical Village was first established by Lesia in 2008 to fulfill her passion and ambition to bring communities together through the love of singing.
The reputation of the choirs has gone from strength to strength and in addition to appearances at local events, concerts, weddings and funerals, they have been delighted to perform at many prestigious events.
These include the Reinterment of King Richard III and performing with Russell Watson in both his 2015 and 2016 UK tours.
This coming year looks equally exciting with 9 confirmed bookings to support X-Factor winner Sam Bailey in her ‘Sing My Heart Out UK Tour 2017’.
‘Musical Village’ is made up of a family of choirs catering for people of all ages and abilities in Leicester and Leicestershire. A warm welcome awaits all who love singing and want to share the enjoyment and fun with the community.
The comprehensive repertoire includes world music, spiritual, pop classics, contemporary, folk, light classical and show hits.
Currently choirs meet in Enderby Village, Leicester Forest East, Enderby Brockington College and Market Bosworth.
