Police appeal following fatal collision on M69

Police accident signA man died in a collision on the M69, Leicestershire, yesterday (Wednesday 8th February).

The collision happened at around 8.40pm on the southbound, Coventry-bound carriageway about half a mile prior to junction 2 and involved three vehicles, a grey BMW 1 series, a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a blue Ford Fiesta.

A 63 year-old man from the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Fiesta, a woman, 23, was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment and has since been discharged.

A section of the motorway was closed overnight to allow officers to carry out an investigation of the scene.

Police are appealing to anyone travelling on the motorway at the time of the collision and who witnessed what happened or saw any of the vehicles being driven beforehand to get in touch.

Police would also like to hear from  anyone who has any dashcam footage?
