You do not need special skills or experience and you get paid a reasonable allowance for your time, with training to help you develop.
We all have different experiences, skills interests – perhaps you would like to help get more activities for young people, support local businesses to thrive, make decisions on planning applications, or improve services generally.
Sound like you? Then you could be just the person to make a difference by becoming a councillor.
In May 2015 Blaby District Council will be holding elections and in the run up to this, Blaby – along with eight other councils across Leicestershire and Rutland – are holding a series of informal and friendly information events on what is involved in becoming a councillor.
If you would like to know more, come along with your friends and family to one of the events. Some of our current councillors will be on hand to chat with you about their experiences and we will provide information and advice on where you can learn more about this satisfying role.
The Blaby event is on Saturday 15 November, at the council offices in Narborough, and starts 10am – 12noon.
Details of all the events are available online at www.emcouncils.gov.uk/make-a-difference or you can call Linda McBean on 0116 272 7708 for more information.
