Enderby lies within the District of Blaby (pron: blay_bee), which has a population of over 91,600.

The District covers an area of approximately 130 square kilometres (50 square miles) in the south west part of Leicestershire.

It is traversed by the M1 and M69 motorways and these excellent communication links are supplemented by other strategically important roads including the A5, A46 Leicester Western Bypass, A47, A50 and existing railways.

These councillors are elected every four years to represent the 18 wards in the District. Elected members usually represent a political party and the current make-up of the Council is:

The Council traditionally used to operate through a system of committees, but now most of the traditional committees have been replaced by a Cabinet Executive who propose the Council's policies and budgets and have responsibility for the delivery of the Council's services. The main parts of the new structure are:

Review of Statement of Licensing Policy - Blaby District Council

Blaby District Council wants views on its Statement of Licensing Policy for 2008-2011.

The Council is required to review its Statement of Licensing Policy every 3 years under the Licensing Act 2003. The Policy sets out how the Council intends to carry out its licensing duties in order to meet the four licensing objectives which are preventing crime and disorder, promoting public safety, preventing public nuisance and protecting children from harm.

The revised policy is now available for consultation and can be accessed by visiting the Blaby District Council website at www.blaby.gov.uk. Alternatively a copy is available to view at Blaby District Council, Council Offices, Desford Road, Narborough, Leicestershire LE19 2EP.

The policy will continue to be reviewed from time-to-time to ensure that it remains current. Views about the proposed policy should be given by 24th October 2007 via the questionnaire which is available on the website. A questionnaire is also available from the Licensing Section, Blaby District Council, Council Offices, Desford Road, Narborough, Leicestershire LE19 2EP.

Representation of the People Act 1983

Sections 18A, 18B, 18C, 18D and 18E and Schedule A1

The Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places
(Parliamentary Elections) Regulations 2006

In accordance with the requirements of section 18C(1) of the Representation of the People Act 1983, notice is hereby given that Blaby District Council is undertaking a review of polling districts and polling places for use in connection with parliamentary elections held within the Blaby and Charnwood parliamentary constituencies.

The review will commence on 6 August 2007 and will be completed by 31 December if it is not in sufficient time to enable the Electoral Registration Officer to make any alterations necessary to the register of electors when it is next fully revised by 01 December 2007, then the Electoral Registration Officer will publish a further revised register.

Representations will be sought from the Acting Returning Officer for the two parliamentary constituencies, and from persons who are considered to have particular expertise in relation to access to premises or facilities for persons who have different forms of disability.

In addition, any elector registered in the area of Blaby District may make representations to the Electoral Services Office.

The details of the existing electoral arrangements are available for inspection between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm on any normal working day at the Council Offices, Narborough, the Blaby Office at Johns Court Blaby and at Braunstone Civic Centre, Kingsway, Braunstone. Representations on the existing arrangements should be made in writing to the Electoral Services Office by no later than 3 September 2007.

Details of representations received will be made available for inspection.
